another silly question...

Just a quick (and I have a feeling - a really stupid) question in a long line of them...sorry

My tank has had 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and 10 nitrates for 3 days now.... how long before I can add fish?? I have had the nitrite spike but as its only been cycling for 3 weeks it seems a bit quick.

I used gravel and plants from existing tank to set it up.

The literature seems to say, add fish when levels are 0 but is this right when tank has got there so quickly??

It looks like you're cycled. Go get your fish. lol
Only add a few at time so you don't overload the bacteria.

The cycle goes quicker when you seed your tank.
Congratulations.

Not a stupid question. It's important to verify these things before introducing fish to your tank.
This is why we're here. Although there are plenty of us who have been around for quite awhile and know quite a bit, this forum was built for people like you, who are still learning the ins and outs of the hobby, so that you have a chance to learn and be successful in keeping your fish.

In other words, ask and ye shall receive (knowledge).

I moved my 3 gold barbs to the new tank (gave up on the clown loaches who hid under the filter) and also put the two angel fish in there as well - dont really like angels but they were left with me by a friend and were in a tiny tank. This morning the barb was spawning while the other 2 males chased her eating her eggs, poor girl!

I have an order for 4 denisons barbs as I think they are stunning fish and 2 corys - will they be ok with the clowns?. Am looking forward to it
