So many good threads gone down such a dark road.

BTW I did get two pairs of un-dyed knee highs with reinforced toes. Should I have spent the extra money for the reinforced toes?

The “big gravel change” happens tomorrow. I’m so excited, I can’t wait to try out my new pantyhose.

That will be neat to get to put in new gravel..It will give the whole tank a new look I'm sure..You'll have to tank pics too...Ohhh and I think that reinforced is the only way to go.

It will be so nice to get rid of nauseous blue gravel. And you bet I’ll be sure to get before and after pictures. And hey for an extra 75 cents the reinforced toes just seemed to be the right thing to do. I didn't want to get a run in them after all.

BTW… how long should I leave my pantyhose in the tank?

HEE HEE..It was the right thing to do..lol
You leave them in there until the tank is cycled. I'll be taking my pantyhose out tonight.

I am hoping not to go through a cycle. I’m not setting up a new tank but simply replacing the gravel. I do plan to keep everything in air-raided tank water in 10g pails. I’m just not sure how long it will take for the new gravel to seed.

As this is a hi-jack should I post in a new thread?

If you want you sure can...I would say leave the panty hose in there until all of your readings have been stable for a week or so..But I could be wrong too..Might want to start a new one just to see what other members think.

Thanks Choffman,

Since you are the "cycle queen" that's good enough for me. I was planning on about two weeks. I think it's perhaps more of an experiment then a question. But I will start a thread just to see what our good friends think.

Here's how you sould decide. Flip a coin, if it comes up heads buy the tank. If it comes up tails, flip again!

I know..lol..I still haven't decided..They haven't got any other responses yet so I don't feel quite as rushed. It's a really big tank..lol..I don't know if I can handle it...I"m sure I could but my goodness. definitely need to ditch the 5 gallon bucket and invest in a python.

You and me both need a python, not that I have as many tanks as you do but boy those buckets are getting hard on the back. Just because you buy it doesn't mean you HAVE to set it up right away! Although something tells me you would, but really you don't have to.

There is no way I could have a tank like that and not have it set up and going..lol..It's just not in me. ..But that is a very good point..I could actually get rid of some of the smaller tanks and just go with a biiger one..But..that would be hard to do too..lol..taking down a tank..HMMM..NO.lol..
