I thought I read that CAE will suck on the gouramis when they get older?

Ya, I'm pretty sure that those algea eaters are bad news, I'd go with a small pleco or a oto group. I'd say a 40 gallon tank due to the fact that you have 2 gold gouramis and they like their space, and are willing to fight each other for it.

I second the 40g motion, and would suggest a Siamese algae eater instead of the chinese. Just a slightly different shade of brown, but much nicer temperament-wise.

i'd also suggest going for dwarf gouramis instead of golds, and keeping one only. Gouramis are aggressive and should be kept one for every 30 gallons... in the case of golds more.

I'd also get more cories, they're schooling fish and would do better in a group of 4 or more.

it should be 35ish gallons per gold gourami... since you already have them, id say go for a 55 gallon.
