3-New Tanks[tank cleaners]

Hi; all, what i thought were 38-gallons turned out to be 40-gallons. So going into the cycling mode the add daily method. Now my question=what kind of fish can i keep to clean tank-that won't overcrowd my tanks 40-gallons and i will be keeping 3- oranda's in 1-tank for awhile until i get a 55-or-a-75-gallon tank.
thanks to all in advance, i've heard that pleco's are good and loaches. but i don't know nothing about them. and i don't like the big catfish-will ghost shrimp-survive in cold water.bella

If your going to have goldfish they will dig and keep the tank clean looking for the most part. I had trouble with algae but that's because my tank in a little to close to a window. I put in some otos, but they aren't recommended because goldies are species only. Goldfish tend to bother everything and anything that they can. The best option will be to vacuum about twice a month. This on top of regular water changes should keep it pretty clean.
My 20g holds two goldfish and they produce the most nitrates of any tank in my house, so stay on top of the water quality.

Aren't Dojo Loaches a colder water species? They get up to 10 inches, so one might be ok in a 40 gallon. My fiance has wanted them for a while, but we don't have any coldwater tanks. They may be worth looking into though.

Boy can those little guys eat lol. i just went and purchased a large oranda and lionhead pkg; of food and these guys are little lol i don't know where they put it. but i guess thats a good sign. the little survior i swear is at least 1/4 in. bigger then when i got him. he is growing and eating well, and i must say healed up very nicely both of them are getting big. so i hope i get cycled quick as these guys need the room lol. bella
