Angelfish problem..I think.

A long story short I got two baby angelfish that I wasn't expecting and are in my 10 gallon untill my 30 is ready for them. I only have 3 glofish in the 10 gallon with them. Today i noticed 1 of them is being a bully..It's nipping the other ones fin... Poor guy...you can tell where he is getting nipped at..barely..but you can still tell..It tries to stay away but that other bugger just goes after him..Is this just them find their place or do I need to step in??..Also I didn't know if it's because they are in a 10 gallon..They will have much more room when they get to the 30.

I don't have many options as of right now..I could put the beat up one in the 30 gallon and do 50% water changes every day but I hate to risk that..But I don't want him getting beat up either. Poor guy.

you can maybe use a tank divider or breeding net/box to separate the fish. i dont think leaving it in there is a good idea although hopefully it may stop as it adjusts more. all i can suggest is to monitor how the fish is behaving.

perhaps the tank is too angelfish will grow to around 15cm

Well..I put a divider in the tank....But that only leaves them 5 gallons each..YIKES..I hope that 30 cycles in a hurry. Should I put them back together in the 30 once it's ready or just find one of them a home?

If only for the time it takes your 30gal to be ready, you could keep one Angelfish juvenile in a small uncycled tank or adequate plastic recipient if place an airstone AND if you do have stable parameters in your source water (mine does not) by doing huge daily water changes as far as you manage to match temperature (incoming water temp = tank/recipient water temp).

I intervened with one Angelfish that was being bullied once a pair was formed out of six. That fish was among the four I relocated. I placed him/her for a week or so in a 5.5gal tank that was housing a male betta, 2 Ghost Shrimps and a Nerite Snail. I kept my eyes on water parameters and performed water changes when Nitrates hit 25ppm; that tank's bacterial colonies handled the bio-load, but it was a risky emergency move. I ended relocating him/her in another 5gal I was cycling for hospital use -once it cycled- since I was concerned with my Betta well-being.

Today that particular fish is paired-off with one of the Angelfish that was previously bullying him/her.

A tank divider, as Mike19 suggest would work well: leave at least two gallons of water for your bully one by placing it at 1/5 the length of your tank so your three goldfish and the other Angelfish juvenile have some room.

Thanks for the info pepetj. I did use the divider. I just put it in the middle. I have the bully with two of the glofish ( not goldfish, a glofish is a type of zebra danio so they are small). I put the other Angel in with the smallest and calmest of the glofish because he was also getting picked on. The bully Angel doesn't mess with the glofish just the other angel. I'm going to keep a close eye on them and the water should remain stable because the divider I have allows water to pass through it. I'll try to put them back together in the 30 and see what happens..Again thank you for your help.

I had two Angels, one died, for what reason don't know. Then got another and the new angel was bein backed into a corner and made to stay there, so I took out the bully angel and put him/her into my bigger tank. Problem solved. Then a week later I moved the other Angel into the big tank and had no problems.

I hope you get your problem fixed. Angles are such little buggers at times!
