Every time I feed my fish the tank smells up my room!

I've got a 90 gallon freshwater tank with cichlids in it. Whenever I feed them cichlid pellets, within 10 minutes the whole room smells. Theres never any food leftover as I feed sparingly. I have a ton of filtration on the tank (fluval 305, two magnum 350s, magnum HOT, emperor 400, penguin 200, aquaclear 50) but they don't seem to be stopping the smell at all. The tanks smells fine anytime I am not feeding. What could it be?

This may not be your answer but have you tried a different type of food?

My cichlid turns up her nose to pellets but devours flake food. Maybe she doesn't like the smell.

I use the OSI Spirulla, and color enhancing flake food, numerous veggies, and bloodworms and I never had a "smell" problem w/ my tanks.

What kind of food do you use?

How often and how much on your WC's? How old is the food? Bad food bad water or both. If you only get the bad smell when you feed it could be one or both. Check the date on the food, change food to see if that make a difference in smell, do water chnges weekly rinse filters (in aquirum water) not clean water or you will kill bacteria your apuirum needs. good luck
