The 30 gallon

Got the 30 gallon. I cleaned it all up and got it set up. I just used the decor that was with it so its not just like I want it and the light makes it look weird IMO..But I got it!!!..YEAH ..If I take the filter media from my established 10 gallon and put a good amount of gravel in pantyhose is that kinda like a insta-cycle??..Or do I still have to do the ammonia thing??..I also put my driftwood in there too that would have lots of good bacteria...I have two filters in my established 10 gallon plus a bio filter in there. So if I take 1 and some gravel..I'm thinking the the 10 gallon will do just fine and I can leave my glofish in there. Let me know what you guys think.

Put some gravel in there definitely. I also seeded my filter for about 10 days in an established tank. I just stuck it in there with the old one and let it take up some of the bacteria. I cycled a 10 gallon tank in about 7 days that way.

Looks great, but no that is not an instant cycle. It will certainly help speed the process up but you still need to cycle the tank. And I do believe you will need to add ammonia as there won’t be any currently in the tank so the bacteria would soon starve. I’m just unsure how much ammonia you should be adding. My guess would be just enough to bring the ammonia reading to about 2ppm. Let the bacteria feed on it while it has a chance to grow in the new media and gravel.

Congratulations on the tank.
