Garlic Panic!

One of my mollies is sick right now, so I've been giving that tank vita-chem and frequent water changes. I learned today that we have a jar of minced garlic, so I decided to add a few drops of garlic juice. Silly me, I thought I could just tilt the jar over the tank and a few drops would plop in. There, done!

But no! A big chunk of minced garlic falls into the tank. I panicked, ran upstairs to get the buckets and vacuum, and vacuumed all the garlic up. It was propably a 25% water change. I replaced the water afterwards with some stress coat.

My question is: Can fish die from a garlic overdose, and are my fish in danger? If so, what should I do?

Gosh, I've never heard of anyone dropping so much garlic in their tank, so I don't know.

If you got all the bits out, I'd go for a larger water change than 25%.
Are they acting ok?

They seem fine. I'll go do another water change.

I feed mine chunks of it but only once a month....as long as you get most of the pieces up, im sure they will be fine...I agree with another water change goodluck with your molly!

was the 'juice' definately garlic juice and not vinegar?

if so, I wouldn't worry about it too much. a water change, Vac up any large bits and your fish wil be fine.

Pardon my ignorance, but I hear garlic juice suggestions on here often. I was just wondering, what exactly does that do for the fish?

It's said to help boost the immune system and used as an appetite stimulant.

Okay, I did a 50% change. I think I got all the chunks out, and now the water doesn't reek of garlic anymore. They're all acting normal, so no harm done, I hope. Thanks for the speedy replies!
