guys my red eye tetra have gone crazy..they just nipped my zebra danio to death..now they are after another but it seems to be holding on by running away..my other fish 2 gouramis and a molly are doing ok for now..they have been together for a month but all of a sudden this!
Ive got 8 tetras so schooling should have helped..plus its a 35 gallon tank so not over crowded..

What should i do and put in with them cause catching them is nearly impossible?

What are your water parameters and how often are you feeding them? Maybe they're so hungry that they're going after other fish for food? Just throwing my opinion out there... I don't have much idea why they would be doing that. I've never heard of this happening before.

Oh, and how many of each gender do you have in the school of tetras?

well its very difficult to sex them...but i doubt thats the problem...
plus i feed them once everyday on flakes or bloodworms so i most definitely think that can be crossed off too

Just a shot in the dark, but do you suppose that since there were only 2 danio instead of a school the tetra just saw him as a prey item? Also, I've noticed other fish tend to know when another is sick or injured, and will harrass them to death. Do you think maybe it was old or ill before it was attacked?

What's your water parameters? Maybe the tetras were stressed, and then they took it out on the poor danio. We really need an expert right about now. Maybe the tetras claimed a certain territory, and then the danio invaded it.

Youve got a point there..the danio i had was pretty much lethargic now..fairly old fella..i just wish i could have provided him with a more peaceful ending then this

OK, so just keep an eye on them incase they go for another danio. And if another one of your fish looks ill or sickly, it would be best to take it out before the tetras go for it to.
