ARGHH!! Help!! Mom cleaned Aquarium w/ Arm & Hammer

Stupid me.

I bought an old aquarium that needed a lot of cleaning, and I let my mom know. As a surprise, she cleaned it...

with Arm & Hammer Essentials Multi-Purpose cleaner

Is there anything I can do?? Is my aquarium ruined?

I looked up the ingredients and found out it contains no ammonia, am I still screwed...?

- Fewer Chemicals: ARM & HAMMER(R) Essentials(TM) Cleaners reduce unwanted chemical use. The products use plant-based cleaners derived from coconuts and palm kernel oil, as well as other biodegradable cleaners. The products contain no ammonia or phosphates, and use fewer chemicals(5) than traditional cleaners.

id rinse it with a bleach solution of 19 parts water to 1 part bleach..then more rinsing with hot hot water until you dont smell any chlorine...then use extra water conditioner when filling it ...you should be ok

It's not the ammonia that will hurt the tank but toxic chemicals and soap. I don't know whether that cleaner is toxic or not but it seems less bad than if you used windex or something. I would try to clean it out with lots and lots of water and scrubbing. Or try a bleach solution of 19 parts water to 1 part bleach and then rinsing with water until you can't smell the bleach anymore.

Maybe someone else can give you better advice. Best of luck.

oh.. shawnie beat me to it!

It doesn't smell like anything inside of the aquarium-- I'll still rinse it really really good.

OH Wait you mean after I rinse it w/bleach, make sure I rinse it until it doesn't anymore LOL. I get it =p
