I cant wait im going crazy

OK so as you can tell by my title I am having a hard time waiting untill my fish tank cycles. Currently I have a 30 gallon fresh water fish tank 1 acua clear 300/100 gallon filter which I installed 1 week ago (Media 1 sponge, 1 amonia remover media, 1 bio-max media) and the 2nd filter is 20 gallon bio-wheel which i have had for 3 weeks(media is sponge and carbon). Oh by the way my tank has been up and running now for 3weeks. I only have a API amonia test kit and my amonia levels are at 2.0 and my water is cloudy. AHHH im sorry but i want my water to look like the water in the fish store crystal clear. My fish store sold me this product called TLC which he claimed has benificial bacteria that will help cycle the tank. I put in the TLC and now i wait and wait. I currently have 13 small fishs in my tank.

Hi jchico, maybe if you raised your water temperature a little, you can speed up the bacteria reproduction. What is the current temperature of your tank?

Oh that is pretty high already! No need to increase temp.

You really need to have a nitrite and nitrate kit too, so you know if any nitrifying bacteria are present in your biofilter media. Since you already have fish in your tank I suggest regular water changes until the cycle is complete, the water should clear up then.

welcome to fishlore!!(if I havent already)

the cloudyness is normal..its a bacteria bloom....daily water changes with some prime water conditioner will make the ammonia harmless for 24 hours until your next water change...I agree with pamphlios that you do need an entire test kit so that you can be sure your cycle is complete...cycleing with fish takes longer so be patient ...

It sounds like you're experiencing a bacteria bloom, which should clear up on it's own.

A reading of 2.0 for ammonia is extremely high. At that level, you're fish may not survive the cycle. Are you doing daily water changes?

It would be helpful if you have tests for nitrite and nitrates as well. You'd have a better idea of where you are in the cycle.
