Ok, I'm starting to freak out. It just seems like it's one thing after another.
My blue/silver fish is still not looking that great, although he is not lethargic, not gasping for air, and actually acting curioius. Since we bought him, and started this tank (all in the same day thanks to
LFS owner) Our tank quickly got very cloudy, and murky. After not seeing him for so long (Thank goodness I found you people!) I started my regular water changes... I don't remember exactly the color of all of his fins and such when I first got him. The fin along his back usually isn't (or wasn't) Open, and kind of had a reddish tint. I did not think a lot of it at first, but now I noticed his tailis starting to get this splochy coloring (like rust.) I started to look at this online, and I'm trying to find picture examples of it - but no go. I believe my poor fish have Velvet, and are rubbing against things (didn't notice that before either, but yep, they are doing it!)
I have NO money left after buying my testing supplies today, and I do not get paid until monday. lfs is closed now as well, and I'm not sure what else I will be able to do until Monday.
I just did a
water change, and plan on doing another in the morning for the
ammonia levels (can Velvet cause ammonia spikes?? is that my problem??) I know I must cure this for my fish, but without the ability to get the meds for them until MONDAY will they be ok?? Is there something I can do in the meantime? My camera is charging, but as soon as it is charged I am going to try and get a photo of my poor fish, and try to get Velvet
umm, that post was supposed to say 'try ot get Velvet pictures, and see what you think...' LOL
I have found that adding salt can help impede the process, as well as leaving the light off... but I'm sure table salt will not qualify for this job, correct? I do have seasalt, from when I got a piercing, but I can't promise that is all that is in it, would that be safe? The peircer just gave it to me in a clear plastic baggy, and said 'use this'...
Suggestions?
