Food die

Could food die hurt a betta and its habitat, oh and the filter.

Do you mean what's already in fish food or the kind you have in your kitchen?

why would you want dye in with a betta?

even though its not harmful to humans, I can imagine the color molecules being good for betta's labyrinth organs

I agree with Shawnie, I wouldn't attempt it.

I know that food coloring is not harmful to humans, but Im just not too sure about how it would affect fish.
If you want to make your Betta tank beautiful, there are lots of colorful artificial plants/flowers you can add, along with colorful gravel and marbles. The possibilities are endless with how colorful you can make your Betta tank without having to resort to using food coloring in the water.

I'd say since it's already happened, see how it goes. Trial and error. I wouldn't reccommend it though, if you like your fish and want them to be happy. Maybe start doing some water changes to help clear out some of the dye.

A lot of times when you see betta in their cups at the store the water is blue. If you ask a pet store employee why their water is blue some will tell you it is to make their water pretty, others will say, "I dunno" and very few reputable employees will tell you the truth that it is actually Methylene Blue <sp?> used to treat disease such as ICH. It's not just blue food grade dye. Probably that's where she got the idea to make it look pretty. I agree with Shawnie and Kate...it's probably not good for them and there are lots-n-lots of ways to make a betta tank beautiful besides that.
