red tailed shark

hey guys..i have a 35 gallon tank with the following
2 dwarf gourami
2 zebra danio
8 red eye tetra
1 molly

Now my question is can i put a small red tailed or a rainbow shark in with them or would it be not compatible with the other residents? Would the tank be overstocked?

Id really like to have it

With the stock you have now, you have about 48 inches of fish. You are pretty much over stocked now, and if you added a RT shark at 4 inches or the Rainbow Shark at 6 inches to the equation, it would really be putting you over the edge in stock size for your 35g tank.

seriously? I added differently ..can you explain so I know where I went wrong?

I got about 35 inches of fish and all small ones..so the bottom dwelling shark would be about 39...where am I off LOL

2 dwarf gourami = 6"
2 zebra danio = 4"
8 red eye tetra = 24"
1 molly = 4"

Add a rainbow or red tail shark (6" max) for a total of 42"

I used the max size from here: http://www.fishlore.com/

I've read of RTS getting as big as 6"-7.5" so I usually count them as a six. Species wise I don't see a major compatability problem however like Lucy and Shawnie have pointed out that would push you into the land of over stocked. And as territorial as RTS's are you might find that there'll be clashes due to that.

hmm... ok, lets see, by my holy bible of fish books, I have calculated below:
Red eye tetras= 4 1/4" ea. @ 8 = 34"
D.Gourami = 2.5" ea @2= 5
Zebra Danio= 2.5" ea. @2= 5
Molly = 4" ea, @1= 4
+________
48" of fish.

Not counting the RTShark @ 4inches or a Rainbow Shark @ 6 inches

EDIT: I can see where some confusion is:
My book has two species of Red-Eyed Tetras. one has the size up to 2 3/4 and the other has it up to 4 1/4. I am going to assume by the photos that the smaller RE tetra is the type that he has, since it looks like the common type found in LFS.

LOL see EDIT above
Given the smaller size RE Tetra the tank is still overstocked, if only slightly and is do-able. I wouldnt add any more fish in there tho.
