I have both and don't really have a preference. Of course, acryllic scratches a lot easier.

I like glass better for larger tanks because it doesen't scratch as easy...and we normally don't have to do water changes as often in our bigger tanks than our smaller hince more time for algae and yucky to build up on the inside walls of the tank, the longer it builds up the harder it is to get off thereby being forced to scrub the heck out of the inside of a tank to get it clean. At the same time I love the little Eclipse tanks for a single betta, and of course they are acrylic, but easy as a peach to maintain and keep clean. Just a quick wipe with a sponge on the inside with each water change and no algae or yuck buildup.

Glass:
HEAVY
Can shatter
Doesn't scratch easily

Acrylic:
Light
Resilient (after years it'll prolly get brittle but who knows how many years it'll take though)
Scratches easy

Those are the main points IMO. Glass seems to be cheaper than acrylic.
