I should think if you could move the media from old tank to new. Media meaning, filter, decor stuff like that. You will seed the tank and be able to move them sooner. This is what I did when I moved my 2 discus from the 55 to the new 25 (they're a possible breeding pair). I had an extra filter on the 55 that I was able to move to the 25 and all worked well. I moved them immediately. : )
Shawnie is right, you must make sure that even with that, you check your water to make sure its cycled, to be safe.

I would assume hes going bigger and if so, your right to check the water as a 25 gal filter media going to a 55 would take much longer than the reverse that jess did..but great suggestion on the media!

My osacrs are very scared; they dont move abt that freely but rarely do they come up during feeding time.
I wont have the time (maybe 2-3 months) to fill in my tank with gravel and plants yet.......so these guys are in there along with a small Black ghost knife fish who seems to be ok with the tank.

My oscars also seem to be afraid of light (for some odd reason); they liven up when the light is turned off, usually.

Do u think they would start moving more freely once the tank is fully done up or is there something else that im not aware of?

I don't know the habits of oscars. But I think I've read they're tough on plants, they knock things around? Hope someone see's your post to help.
