Help! Green stuff in my tank !??

Hi everyone..

I am almost two weeks into my first ever cycle and tank. I planted plants earlier and got an infestation of snails. I have just got rid of them, finally....
however I have notices my front glass going slightly green??
Also Ive noticed green fluffy thready stuff on some plants and on my substrate..??
What is this? Is it algae? What do I do? Please help...

Sounds like you have some kind of explosion going on there! Can you post some pics so we can have a look?

Hi can you say how you got rid of snails or what you used.also where did your plants come from and how your water or what your water supply is from?how often do you have your lamps on and do you have any direct sunlight on your tank?

Got rid of my snails by consistenly picking them out, once in morning and then in the evening. Eventually their numbers dwindled away. could have used a peice of lettuce as bait though, and when they would have collected on it, simply pull it out. Perhaps weigh it down with a paper clip...
i got my plants from a local aquarium shop. Thats where i got my snails from! so watch out, as when i went back to inquire, noticed a phat snail in the tank which had the plants. All they do is eat, breed, eat breed...
water is from the tap. yorkshire tap water....
unfortunately at the moment my tank is situated right next to the window, which has sunlight beaming directly in :-(...
