Snails?

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank with 3 angelfish, 6 buenos aires tetras, 2 gouramis, and a Pleco. For some reason I have been noticing a ton of snails in my tank the last couple of weeks. I have no idea where they are coming from as I havent changed a single thing in my tank in quite a while other than the normal water changes weekly and my filter media change every thre weeks or so. I had removed every snail i could find during he last water change and thy have multiplied by 10 lol. Any help is appreciated.

Hi jayrod
Do you have any live plants perchance? Snails often come in on those.
To control the snails, you can set a trap for them. Put a piece of lettuce in the tank, and leave it overnight, and before it gets light again you can pull out the lettuce and lots of snails will probably be all over it.
Another good way to control them is just to make sure you don't overfeed your fish, as the snail population increases rapidly if lots of excess food is laying around.
