python cleaner

i'm looking to buy the python, the LPS has one made by the same guy but cheaper. MY question is if you fill the tank from the faucet, will the chlorine hurt anything. I dont see how you can add any conditioners until the tank is full. The lps said it's ok. I just want to make sure.

Some on this forum who use a Python said that they put the water conditioner in the tank just before adding the water.

I use a bucket ( actually a hamper) that holds about 15 gallons...I put the water in that in front of the tank...add water conditioner into that and scoop into the tank with a 1/2 gallon jug or scoop into the jug and add the water conditioner into it and then add.. I did add the water to the tank one time but I had a major mini cycle with the chlorine affecting my bacteria and never did that again....others do it without a problem but I am ok doing it my way...lol good luck with whatever you decide. I have heard if you add the conditioner to the tank you should dose for the size of the tank...not fot the size of the water change. ( 30 gal tank- 10 gal water change....dose for 30 gals not 10 )

Mitch, I've been doing this for years. I add the conditioner directly into the tank before I add the new water with the python. Piece of cake. Just make sure you have the temp right for your fish.

Also make sure your heater is turned off otherwise you'll pop it. They're just too expensive to keep buying.

As I turn the water on in the tank I ad my conditioner into the tank, I haven't ever had any problems doing this w/ my fish. However, I don't get by so easily w/ my SW tank (which you have to pre-mix your salt and conditioners first).
