good fish database?

just out of curiousity....

when i setup a tank i like to do it as natural as possible that is with fish and plants from the same or very close regions ie.amazon river tank

im wondering if thiers a database out there somewhere on the web where you can search fish and plants by reigon and such

i mean there are databases out there but most of them involve picking through long lists and matching up fish from simliar regions yourself

i want something where you can search by reigon

anyone know of something like this?

(sorry if its confusing im ranting )

That's a very interesting and useful idea... if available.

Wow if you find that please share it down here, I'm into bio-types too -at least for some tanks- but info is so mixed sometimes... will we need to purchase some good books or subscribe to journals?

The few ones I found that seem (not sure) to have that type of info are so technical I get lost (e.g. scientific names only and so many of them). I'm way tired now but I'll look around tomorrow again.
