RIP Edda

I upgraded Edda's tank last Thursday. Changed the substrate to Eco-complete, relocated her favourite plant (Anubias barteri) and her new smooth-edged large river rocks. She was quite active, exploring things around, eating as usual. Water parameters are great (ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates <10ppm, pH 7.2, 8 dGH, 5 DKH), that small 5.5gal tank has two filters (small HOB 85GPH + inside the tank fiber/charcoal). I was just going to adjust water parameters with Almond Tree leaves...

I just returned from the LFS with anti-fungal medication, since a small area under her mouth, which recently healed, had signs of fungal infection (she got bad bruises a few weeks ago, which I treated with Methylene Blue successfully). I have no idea what happened, no signs of being really ill, if you know what I mean.

I went to my Camila, my 4 year old daughter, told her I was feeling sad, and when she asked why, I told her Edda passed away. She wanted to see her, I asked if she would like to say good-bye to her with me, she agreed. We flush her down the toilet waving bye for her... My daughter gave me a hug and said to me: don't worry pa, we can go to the store and bring another one and named her Edda! ...wasn't this supposed to be the other way around?

Pepe, sorry to hear about you losing Edda.

But in regard to your daughter, I see the apple didn't fall far from the tree!

Pepe, I am so sorry you lost Edda. Children tend to be so much wiser, and much more practical minded in these instances. Would that it were we could all look at our world with the eyes of a child.

We are going for a new betta when I pick Camila at school at noon! The only problem I figure is finding a female down here. LFS are full of male Bettas, but females are scarce.

Maybe she'll fell for a male?

I will keep you posted, thanks so much for your sympathy.

Here's a pic of Camila in pjs before bed time today, the pic is not really good (I took it and it notices LOL) I told her about your positive comments about her and she was kind of surprised/embarrassed/happy at the same time...

She "interrupted" my MLB Anaheim Angels vs Boston Red Sox game (third one today) to invite me to "let's watch our tanks!", kind of a ritual we do on week days when I make it home before she goes to bed early -quality time and she gets away with going to bed later 'cause she's with me so... she updates me about the fishies whereabouts and of course we talk about her stuff and mine and... you know, father-daughter stuff!
