vacation

Hi all,
I don't trust my judgement so please advise.

We are going away for 9 days. Should I not feed the fish and just have someone stop by once to feed and check in on them and/or leave this Tetra weekend, tropical slow release feeder disk thing in the tank.

Thanks all

Fish can go for quite a while with no food, but 9 days may be pushing it. If you have someone you trust who can feed them a few times while you are away, that would be great. Just be sure to give them very specific instructions on how much to feed...many well intentioned '"fish nannies will overfeed your tanks and you can come home to a mess. Another option would be to pick up an automatic fish feeder. A basic one will feed every 12 hours or so, and will allow you to adjust how much is being fed.

Hi Kacie,
The weekend feeders tend to release too much food and polute the tank (as well as overfeed your fish). Fish can go up to two weeks without food and still be fine. If I were you, I would have someone that you trust come over and feed them once while you are gone. I would put the portion of food in a zip lock bag for them so that you don't have to worry about over feeding them.

Thanks MTS and Sean. I will try to find someone to stop by once or twice.
