Help Please

Ok so i just recently cleaned out my 20 gallon long tank, a freshwater tank might I ad, and I had the thought to change it into a 1/3 land and 2/3 water tank. I would really like to keep toads, frogs and other florida native species, like my pinewoods snake. any suggestions on how to go about doing this? Oh and as i only have it filled about 6 inches, is there a way to keep algae under control, my submersible filter(10 gallons) isn't doing the trick.

Yes well my other questions still stand, is there a way to keep the algae under control, will snails work? Shrimp?

What I've found about a pinewood snake is that they are a leaf-litter snake, suggesting they don't normally live in a mostly water-filled environment. 1/3 of a 20g tank may not be enough space for that snake to be comfortable.

Similarly, I don't think that 20g would be enough to keep a bunch of different species. You could probably do one or two different species, though.

Not sure about algae, other than "do more frequent water changes to get keep nitrate/phosphorous levels down."

Ok that sounds good. My snake is in a 10 gallon tank right now with a southern toad and they are fine, but it is really a hassle trying to take care of two tanks. thats why i was asking, but mostly i would like a basking spot for my turtle, besides the top of his hiding place. do you think that i would be able to put frogs in with him? Ok so i just cleaned out my tank, put in new gravel and whatnot and my water is all cloudy why?
