Nitrate levels

I finished fishless cycling my tank and added three cherry barbs a couple of days ago. They seem happy and I am watching the water levels and the nitrate is about 5 PPM and ammonia and nitrite are at 0 ppm.

I plan to do a 10% water change in a couple of days but should I be worried about the fish now?

Also, I have the tank at 80 degrees. Is that too warm?

Thanks!

Your numbers are good. 5 nitrAtes are fine.

I always like to go midway between the recommended temps, but that's just a personal opinion.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for responding so quickly! I have had a hard time getting my tank at the right levels, many failures with goldfish, and I really want to have a successful tropical tank.

About how many plants can I have in a 10 gallon tank and is it better to have more than just two?

Thanks again!
