Suggestion?

I am new here.

I have a 40 gallon aquarium. Currently it houses 6 female platies, 2 dwarf gouramis, and 3 apple snails. I haven't really wanted any new fish until now. But cannot figure out what would go well with the current inhabitants. I am looking for stocking suggestions.

If you would. I would like a schooling group. And a larger 'centerpiece' fish.

I do not like neon tetras or goldfish
I cannot find Angelfish around here.

The only suggestions I have gotten so far from people I know is 1 angelfish (cannot find them) and a blood parrot (I would like to keep my current fish alive lol)

Welcome to Fishlore.

I don't really think you've got much room for a centerpiece fish. You'll be overextending the bioload and swimming room of the tank if you put a larger fish in.
You could do a school of small fish (any of the really small tetras), though you'd have to step up your water changes in order to keep nitrates down.

Just for future reference, you never mix goldfish with tropical fish, and don't put an angelfish in with a gourami.

perhaps some lower dwelling fish such as corydoras to clean the bottom of the tank and fill the lower layers? their very good at removing left over food and general mess and there are many varieties
