There has been VERY few cases of fish TB ever transfering to humans, to my knowledge, so I really doubt if that were the case.

I used to get itchy when in the fishhouse, but soon realized it was always just after feeding the fish. I got to looking and found out that the flake food had mites in it, which got the food thrown out and my hands a good washing. Not a problem since.

But again, fish TB in and of itself is not a common occurance, and it is completely rare for it to transfer to humans, even when it is present, to my knowledge.

What are you feeding the fish? I know on the package of blood worms it says they can cause a reaction and advises not to touch them.
One of our members had a reaction to them.

It could be a reaction to the bloodworms, then.

Be sure to wash and rinse your hands thoroughly before and after putting your hands in tank water.

Actually, one could very well be allergic to a component of fish and/or their slime coat. (That is not common, but being that it is possible one can not use definate words. )

I agree that I would look at the bloodworms as a possibility, because many people have reactions to them.

Do you have any snails? A disease can be transmitted to humans by snails. In the life cycle of flukes the larva will burrow into the skin of the host and often leaves a small red rash where they entered. Chances are that you don't have this but I thought of putting it out there.

here is the lifecycle of this kind of fluke

Yes, I know someone who is deathly allergic to fish (if eaten) but keeps a lot of them, and can get rashes if he handles them directly due to the allergy.
Allergy to bloodworms is pretty common, though usually when it bugs me (i.e. if I touch frozen ones and don't wash my hands immediately after) my fingers get a bit puffy and tight feeling and itchy, not really a rash, but I'm sure it affects different people differently. I can't use the freeze dried anymore because of the dust that makes my eyes and nose itchy and stuffed for hours after. It's also an acquired allergy. You have to be exposed to develop it so even if you didn't have a problem in the past it may have begun now ( I took years to go from able to handle any sort no prob to the frozen ones bugging me if not careful with em)
