i successfully cycled my tank with stress zyme by API. you could also use a product i think its called Bio-Spira (i dont know if they do but maybe a more experienced person with it could tell me) or you could do a chunk of raw shrimp and as it dissolves will release ammonia which then will break down into nitrites than nitrates. this is all a fishless cycle just want to reiterate that.****.

Hi. I am still changing 50% of the water on a daily basis. So far so good. While changing the water so frequently, am I supposed to clean the gravel every time as well? Will this disrupt the cycle in anyway? My ammonia has been anywhere between 0.75 and 1.0 and I have been using the prime conditioner after each change.

You shouldn't vacuum the gravel with every water change. Once a week or so should be good.

Bought RENA XP3

Bought a REVA XP3 today. i just set it up and i notice that when i look into the canister that the water does not go to the absolute top, where the motor sits. if i tilt the filter back and forth i can see that there is air trapped inside. however, there does not appear to be air being pushed out of the outlet jet. is this normal? the filter has already been running for 20 mins. everything seems to be set up properly. i have a nice amount of pressure but i honestly don't have anything to compare it to pressure-wise so i don't know if this is optimal pressure. again, when i tilt the filter back and forth, side to side - it makes whishing sounds and then bubbles come out. also, are these completely incompatible with bubble walls??
