Water pump that shuts off when out of water?

I am looking to find a water pump that is good quality and shuts off when not under water. I will be using this in my sump tank to shoot water back to my main tank. In the event that my overflow box siphon fails(hasn't yet but I am scared when I am away) I want my waterpump to shut off after it pumps off the top layer of water.

I have a 10gallon sump only, and placed the water pump about 1'' under the water surface, so if the siphon on the overflow box fails, this should only send about 1gallon of water to my main tank; causing NO overflowing. The problem I have is my current pump doesn't shut off when the water goes under it, it just keeps running without water, and I am scared this is a fire hazard. Does anyone know of a good pump that shuts off when out of water?

Thanks!

Dont think anyone makes them.
You may want to look for a float switch that cut the power to the power head.
Or place some mesh over the edges of the overflow box that is in the tank.
The mesh must be small enough so that anything that passes through the holes can pass through the syphon pipe.

what will placing mesh on the overflow box do? I don't understand ;p

If there aren't any that go off when out of water, does anyone know of ones that go off when overheating perhaps? I just don't want a firehazard, if there is a good one that shuts off when it overheats, that could also solve my problem
