7 wks cycle same as day one

I have had my tank set up for ~7wks. There is no progress in my cycle. It is a moderately planted tank(anubias, cork val, amazon sword, java moss and someother thing I can't remember), 30 gal hexagon tank w/3 zebra danios, 3 platties, 2 cherry barbs, 2 cories and 2 guarames. Ammonium levels are ~1ppm, and nitites and nitrates are non existant. I did have an increase in nitrites about 3 weeks ago, but that has since stopped. Is there something I can do.

Thanks

Welcome to fishlore!!! doing a cycle with fish stinks ALOT of us have been there from lack of knowledge

only thing you can do is DAILY water changes of at least 50% and if you can, get some water conditioner called prime...it neautralizes the ammonia for 24 hours until your next water change...and will save your fishies ....patience is the only help you can have with cyceling with fish unless you can get some bio spira, or tetra safestart...an api liquid test kit works amazing for everything if you dont already have one....

took me 9 weeks to cycle my 75 gal with fish...its totally frustrating but well worth it once completed..goodluck!

Hi Nick Welcome to Fish Lore

Have you tested your tap water?

Welcome to Fishlore. What are you testing with and what's your schedule of water changing?

I have a liquid tester from aquarium pharmaceuticals that tests ph, ammonium, nitrites and nitrates. The only thing that keeps happening is a ph on the negative side(6.2), some ammonium levels(varies from 0 to ~1) and the one test I did I got a ~.25 nitrite reading a few weeks ago.

I do a ~10-15% water change 1-2 times a week. I did add nitriband when I first started but then did some reasearch and have exchanged at least 75% of the water since then. Plants are growing rather well(except the sword tail, but its not dying either) and the only fish I lost were a pair of guppies I put in there ~ 2 weeks ago, I had done a test the day I got them and all levels were zero across the board.
