I just do not get it.....vanished!

Yesterday I noticed my hatchet had been mawled by my last remaining zebra danio.. who was taken back to the LFS as living solo was not going to work and I didnt want any more danios... therefore, last night I was watching the hatchet as it only had half a tail and his top fins had been nibbled on... but he was swimming around, I just didnt know if he was going to be OK...
so ....this morning - poof! gone!.... he couldnt get out... the filter is impossible for him to go up.... I have pulled out the plants and rocks, and he is no where.... he wasnt a small hatchet, so was he eaten? could be have disintergrated that fast in the tank? ... and if so, what would eat him.... maybe my cuckoo catfish...? I dont know, but hes not there now....

Out of all your fish, I would guess either your cuckoo or angel. But you might want to check the filter just to be sure, as well as every nook and crannie in the tank

Hatchets can be jumpers. If your tank does not have a tight cover with minimal openings, you might have to check the floor.

No, he couldnt of gotten out... my tank is hatchet proof.... and there is no way he couldget in my filter as its all got a plastic mesh over the pipe.... I did check around the floor automatically... but alas he is no where in sight..... maybe between the catfish and angel they ate him all up

I'm losing a hatchet to that right now! It's because of small numbers - I haven't had a chance to replenish my school since the mini cycle! I have 2 left. They just don't live in these small numbers and you can never find the bodies - they disintegrate!
