overstocked or room for one more?

Ok guys i have a 10 gal and i was wondering if I had room for maybe one more fish....

Tank includes:

1 Crowntail Betta.....he is VERY docile.....lol...he sees his reflection in the tank and flares at it but doesnt even acknowledge other fish in the tank

3 Glofish.....VERY hardy and active....like they are doped up on extra strong sugar

and of course, my dear little Franklin the Mystery Snail....

I was considering maybe a Molly....or just some other kind of little fish to accompany my guys soon......or should i just stop where I am at....

Feedback welcome and I have pix in my albums of the tank if u guys want to see....

Be careful with what you put in with the betta, mollies may nip at its long fins.... try a couple of corydoras, the panda variety stay very small and they dont bother anything, plus they clean up the bottom for you! One or two very small {1 inch each} would be about your max I think

everyone tells me to watch the betta but the crazy thing is I have had bettas before and they were violent as heck...but not Phoenix....hes like so chilled out and mellow...the worst thing i have seen him do is flare his gills at his reflection in the tank but thats about it....he has no issues with the glofish (Pyro, Helios and Therma) lol....nor the snail....

No I meant watch the other fish with him, his long fins are attractive for other fish to bite on, which usually leads to your betta getting fin rot and not being able to swim =(

Well, Zebra Danios get to 2 inches long (that's what the glofish were before they got the jellyfish glow stuff) and you have 3 of them, making 6 inches.

Then your betta at 2.5 inches brings you to 8.5 inches.

Then the mystery snail I've heard needs needs 2 gallons of water to be healthy 'cause they poo so much so that's 2 more inches bringing you to 10.5 inches.

I'd say you're stocked as is!

Also, I agree with clinton. Many other fish will nip at betta fins because they're long and flowing. As a matter of fact, I'd watch the glofish for that as well. I had danios in a tank with some cory cats once and they nipped one of the cat's tails down to nothingness before I'd realized it.

And yes, mollies are nippers.

Anywho, I'd stick with the stock you have now!

A Betta should normal be only kept with certain bottom feeders. Usually ottos or cories. Some betta may get along in community tanks but in general betta should be kept alone. Male and females.

Yea, the tank is just a tiny bit overstocked now. If the glofish leave your betta alone, then I'd just keep the tank at the balance that you've gotten it to.

The glofish may leave your Betta alone now - but sooner or later they WILL learn how fun it is to rip his fins to shreds! I'd separate them somehow before disaster breaks out. Glo fish ideally also need a school of at least 6. Mollies prefer to be in groups of 3. So, no more fish, if anything returning/buying new tank for some fish.
