My sisters has recently set up 4gallon tank (i know its a bit on the small side) and are after some stocking suggestion?

My idea was maybe a pair of Lamprologus multifasciatus (Multi-banded shell dwellers) Lake Tanganyikan variety.

Any help appreciated

The tank is far to small for a pair of those im afraid, you could have around 3 guppies or platys , 1 male and 2 females of both of the mentioned species.

I would say sadly the multies get large enough that it would be VERY tight with 2 multies, and if they spawned it would be really rough. It could be done, but would probably be less than thirving conditions for them, which is what should all strive to provide.

A betta splenden would do alright.

A small colony of dwarf shrimp (Cherry red, Crystal red, Neon green, tigers, etc) would be beautiful in option.


The problem with livebearers is the production of fry.
