Well your other choices that I can think of are letting them get eaten, if they are small enough a temporary fish bowl, dividers, and getting a breeding tank that doesn't hang on the side. I've never bred fish before so this is all I can think of.

Buy a floating breeder tank. $4.00 ~
It'll float around in your tank and no need to fix it to the side or hang it on anything.

Looks like this:

~~\~~~~~/~ ~
~ ~\ >< > /~~~
~~~\ ~~/~ ~ ~
~~~~\ /~ ~~ ~
___...__._.__..__

The ><> is the pregnant fish.
The .... are the fry.
The ~~ is water.

The fry fall through the gap in the" \ / " and fall away from the mother so she can't eat them. Mother stays in the " V " shape until all fry are out and away then you remove her and your fry are safely trapped at the bottom of the breeding trap.

Safe, easy, inexpensive.
I'd link you a picture of one but I'm too lazy! :P
hope this helps.
