Don't mix bleach and vinegar either it makes the same type of reaction as bleach and ammonia. I found this out at work- It was lots of fun ...NOT!

One is a little 5 gal that I couldn't resit taking home (don't ask me how a fish tank can look abused but this one did) it holds water (far as I know I'll be checking that out myself in ten minuets). Regardless. It needs a really good cleaning so what would be the best way to go about it? It's like a white line kind of film across the glass.
The other tank is a ten gal without a lid that looks brand new. it came with a filter so the question is, used filters good idea, or better off to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance everyone and I'm sorry to bother you again.

I agree on the soap I have done much reading and everything I have read about cleaning says NO SOAP of any kind. They sell a cleaning sponge at pet stores I think its a almond sponge I use it in all my tanks. 2 of which were used by other people and kept out side for long periods. They now work great. I would say if you use any thing else use a 1:19 solution of bleach and water. be sure you dont use anything that has come in contact with soap in the cleaning process.
