Opps! (I should have known that this was coming)

Well I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. Got and nice little red tail shark a few weeks ago... but he's not "quite" so little anymore. And the fabled 10 gal that is "supposed" to be coming up from home is not looking like it's gonna show up in the next week or so. So now what do I do? I have a used 15 gal that I'm picking up but it's going to be going upstairs but I didn't want to set it up until I knew for sure where it was going to go. (two more room-mates moving in and bringing furniture yet). So now the crux of the matter. Red needs a new home... any anti growth formula's anyone? Or better yet a cheap alternative to hold us out until I some how get the 10 gal up here?

redtails are pretty territorrial..so even in a 10 gal which they say is minimum, if you have other fish, hes gonna feel totally threatned..are you putting other fish in with him? ....um, why would you want to stunt his growth? even if that was possible, which I hope its not!, that doesnt seem fair....

No no, I, at the moment don't a have another tank for him and he's grown at least a half inch in the 14 days that I've had him and if he keeps it up he's going to out grow his tank before I can get him a new one. I don't want to stunt his growth I want him to slow down till I have a tank for him.
and I wasn't planing on putting other fish in a 10 gal with him. that was the 15 gal which is off limits.

You may still want to look for something larger if at all possible for your guy but it sounds like you're most likely tight on space or will be until everyone is settled in.

Oh and trust me - the field day we'd all have if we could slow down the growth process, I never want my fishies to grow up ^_~ they're so cute when they're all tiny and needyish ^^; But then again I say that about my little cousins as well.

You might beable to see if you can buy a plastic storage container (the ones found in the trash can, storage drawers, dish pan section). You'd have to be picky about the sides to beable you can hook the filter up but I'm pretty sure you can still hook the heater up. It was an option I was given and I went with it when I had to tear down my tanks to make room for a larger one.

Thanks I was kinda hoping that something like that would work. And yeah space is a little bit tight till September when everyone else gets finally gets settled in. Any advice about the storage container or special considerations for it?
