Snails, Apistos and Algae

I currently have 4 apistos and 7 rummy nose tetras in my 29g. It has been set up for a while now and algae has started to take over. I plan to get a few octos to really go after the algae but I also wanted some snails.

What kind of snails are good for tank cleaing and algae cleaning?

Will my apistos eat the snails?

In my opinion apple snails work great. Plus they have to have a mate to breed which is a plus. Trumpets might take over your tank worse than the algae. And, yes many cichlids eat snails. With apple snails, once they are grown, you should have much of a problem.

Zebra nerite snails. The worlds greatest algae eating snail!

Apple snail aren't that good. In fact, they won't touch much of the algae. Get 5 nerites - they can't breed in FW, and they will really destroy algae!

What kind of algae is it? Siamese algae eaters are farily good if you have space for a 6" fish!
