I got my ten gallon up and running but after a few weeks it starting having this weird white stuff forming on the plants and filter intake. I am at a loss as to what it is. I had some ghost shrimp in there and when they ate it they were dead within the next 24 hours. Any ideas on to what it is? The water readings are 0, 0, and 0.

Could it possible be really small worms? I believe they're called planaria. I had them in my 10 gallon while it was cycling.

Could it be mineral deposits? Do you have very hard water?

I had this issue once upon a time. It was calcium build up because of hard water. Try using a water softner. Make sure you re-cycle your tank after cleaning all this out. Dont use any of the current water to resupply the tank. The minerals in the calcium build up will kill almost any aquatic animal not large enough to digest it.

My 15g tank also had the white stuff you're talking about today when I scrubbed the glass. But after a few minutes, it all disappeared...
