I went to Acehardware.com today and found janitor strength ammonia it said it had 10% ammonia hydroxide though is it the stuff i need??

one word of advice... do not overdose ammonia otherwise it will take longer to cycle (currently cycling 5 gal).

Funny (not haha funny), we add ammonia to kick off a fish less cycle, but adding too much can kill the bacteria.

Im sure my fless cycle should be done with already if I hadnt put half the gallon of ammonia in the tank!!!!! GRRRR

well.. not "really" the half gallon, but yes, I did put quite a lot of ammonia in the tank because I was lacking a dropper...

speaking of droppers where do you get them and if a general super market what section?

I got mine from the local vet. You can probably get them at walmart in the pharmacy section.

I got my out of some baby stuff we had from our kids...so if you can't find them anywhere else check the baby section.

Here's how I handle anything that needs a dropper.

I get disposable eyedroppers at walmart for like 12 for 3$. Then I fill the dropper with the med, ammonia, water conditioner ect... then I take a sharpie and lable what it is. The big bottle of whatever it is goes in 'storage' and then I have the little handy dropper for it.
