White film on glass.

My 55g tank is approx. 1 month old. I am cycling my tank with fish and I have recently noticed a white film forming on the glass in my tank. Could this be from a product I am using. The products are; Prime, Cycle and, stress zyme.

Is the white film on top near the water surface and on the water surface? or inside.. or is it fluffy white stuff... check out the link below.. hope it helps..

Great link but the residue is all over. I scrub it off and a few days later it comes back.

Coffey.. im not going to lie to you.. I have no idea.. im kinda new to this thing.. the stuff in that link was my one trick pony... I do know on my tank I have some film floating on the water surface (the water output of my filter doenst break the surface.. and i dont have those bubble thingy's) .. I think its like fish oil or something. but thats just a wild guess..

I'm gonna say this now.. cuz i've just gone through it myself about the cycle with fishes... water change, water change, water change.. I lost a total of 4 during mine.. good luck..

Another recommendation... Stop using Cycle. It contains a terrestrial bacteria that is not QUITE the right one's needed in your tank. What this means is that it is not self sustaining with the Ammonia that the fish and leftover food in the tank produce... What THIS means is that when you stop using Cycle someday, those bacteria will all die and stop filtering Ammonia and Nitrites into Nitrates. That is a bad thing.

If you want to kick start your cycle, use Tetra SafeStart instead. It didn't give me good results, but some have had luck with it.

The white stuff is probably algae if it is stuck to the glass. Once your tank is cycled, you'll have less of this happening. For now, what are you doing with light? Is it getting direct sunlight during the day? How long are you leaving the light on? For more than 10-12 hours a day? Do you have any real plants that need the light?

Im new to this so i really cant say anything for sure but one of my friends came upon a white/ light gray kinda slimy film on the sides of his tank when he was starting a fishless cycle. he tried cleaning it on the sides several times and finally ended up totally draining the tank and starting over he thought it might be the gravel ( i dunno why like i said im new) he took the gravel and filled 2 5 gall buckets with hot water and put the gravel in a pasta strainer and dipped it into one bucket swished it all around and then switched buckets and did it probably half dozen times in each taking about 15 mins all together. when he tried cycling again there was no film i dont know if it was the gravel for him or not but it worked =/
