Fish Fighting

I bought a friend for my one oscar and when I added the new fellow to the tank, my oscar just did not stop showing the newbie whos boss. My oscar is an albino with no coulors, only the rims of his fins are black an the new guy is also an albino whith orange spots all over his body. Do I have two males or females?? What should I do? Do females also fight?

g'morning Charmaine
Most likely as you said, the original Oscar is just showing the new one who is boss of the tank. I have just done the same thing with my one juvi Jack Dempsey. He had been solo in the tank and I decided to get another one for the company. Well, Jackie whom I know now is really a Jack... chased Jill all over the place but after three days they have settled in. Tho Jack still chases Jill around at times now I find Jill not backing down anymore and still goes and follows Jack around. I think they will do fine.
Your original Oscar just has to accept the new fish into his territory. From what I hear they should be fine together. I know that Shawnie has a few Oscars and hopefully she will be along to give you a hand and maybe be able to help you ID the gender for you.
Good luck with your Oscar, they were my second choice for companion to my JD. They sure are great fish!

Thanx so much. I will add him to the main tank because when I saw them fighting I removed the new one, I didn't want either one of them to get hurt! I will let you knoe what happens.

That is 6 inches of fish right? They are not babies.. I do hope they can get along at that size. Its a lot easier to introduce them together as babies.
I wish I knew more about Oscars to be able to help you. Where's Shawnie when we need her? LOL...

gm LOL

Oscars are monomorphic meaning you cant tell unless they pair up...they both look the same ...

I would put the new baby back in and take out the older baby...rearrange the tank decorations totally, with plenty of hiding spaces...

the put the older baby back in ....it will take about 3-4 days for them to learn they both are boss...goodluck!

got pics?
