Quick FYI

Most of you already know this information, but for those of you as new to the hobby as I am it's really not a good idea to buy livestock for your tank at the same place you buy your toilet paper. I saw things tonight at the store that made me cry.

It was really bad. There were several cory cats (6-8) dead at the bottom of 1 tank with the 2 living feeding off them (yeah, I know that's what they do but why were several dead, and why were they left in the tank long enough for the others to feed off?) Rows of bettas with their fins falling off in the bottoms of their pitiful cups. Stunk like, well, dead fish. No tank looked healthy, all had something dead in it. I was up late last night writing an email to their website, for whatever good it will do.

I relate to your feelings, Melissa.

I recently adquired a young 5" Tiguer Oscar, left him/her at the LFS until my 29g bow tank finished cycling (temporary home, final one is a 145gal tank). I visited Moon (his/her name) everyday (except Sundays) at the LFS. On my second visit, I saw they were feeding Moon (and other fish) with dead goldfish and corydoras. I requested them not to feed mine that way, purchased fish food and left it at the LFS.

I don't think all LFSs are the same. But I guess it's an unfortunate common practice.

Last Monday I went to another LFS (where I bought the 145gal tank) and they were unpacking just arrived fishes. It's quite horrible the way these guys (the ones we take care of) are handled. I saw a lot of casualties. At least in this particular store, they were disposing of the bodies by not feeding other fish.

Fish get treated so poorly, it's pathetic and reflects how cheap life is.

Yeah! A lot of people don't appreciate fish. In my country, aquarium fish get treated the same. It's so cruel!
