Fins & Tails

When a fish's dorsal fin or tail fin is "shredded" or shortened from being nipped by another fish, does it grow back? The two Corys that I took out of my cichlid's tank appear to be having the fishy equivalent of a "bad hair day". Fortunately the damage was to fins only; otherwise they appear uninjured and seem to be doing fine in their new home in the community tank.

I believe they should. I know with bettas fin damage is a daily battle, clean water, garlic guard and vita-chem really help with the healing process. I'd assume that would be the same for other fish as well but I could be wrong.

yes they will with good care..as tk said, all of his recommendations will heal them cuties...just keep a close eye on them for other infections, but doing as tk said should stop that...goodluck!

Fin nipping? Make sure you removed the fin nippers! TK and Shawnie's advices are great! Just keep a close eye on those injured.

It grows back. Garlic guard, vita-chem and fish protector are products that help the regrowth to be faster.

Our fins & tail have grown back. Corys (cories?) Grindl & Hazel are pretty again and shall remain in the community tank. The offending cichlid Weezie shall remain alone in her tank as she apparently didn't appreciate her housekeeping staff.
