Moving house & New Tank

We're moving in a few weeks 6-8 at a guess, it's down to the solicitors.

Any good advice on how to move my tank and fish?
LFS has said get a few big water jacks to get as much if not all of the tank water in, bag up the fish and move them as quickly as you can. Seems reasonable, are there any potential pitfalls or problems I need to be prepared for? or try to avoid?

Its a 125 litre tank with corys, tetras, scisortails, SAEs and YoYos.

Also I've just got the all clear for a bigger tank in the new house from SWMBO WooHoo, looking like its going to be about 300-500 litres (Budget is about £1000). Would like some bigger fish, what sort of fish could be kept in tanks that size?

Thinking about a marine tank as my daughter loves all the colours of the marine fish. Would my budget get me decent marine setup, seems like its a lot more expensive (and difficult)

Cheers
Gareth

There is a recent thread dealing with moving an aquarium. Basically, it was suggested to use styrofoam cooler to keep the fish in during the move, since it will help keep the water temperature at it current level.

Marine fish are generally more expensive to buy, and you would need some additional equipment.

Good Luck

Moving is covered in that thread.
New Tank:
There are plenty of options for 300-500L (84-140 USgal)tank. I will share with you a suggestion that I'm working for myself (for 500L), just in case you go freshwater -I have no experience in saltwater tanks, credits for Steveangela 1, Susitnaflower, Lucy and Barbrella:

Big Guys:
1 Oscar (if 300L), 2 (if 500). (Incredible pet, ask around).
5 Silverdollars (if 300L), 9 (if 500)
1 Mr Pleco.
No plants (except floating), deep substrate, large rocks, large driftwood, aim at very-good/excellent filtration, standard lighting, provide covers for thermometer, heaters, et al (sic). Also safe jump-proof canopies.
