A couple of months ago I was sold a couple of gorgeously beautiful severums - they were labelled on the tank as PINK SEVERUMS - and, yes, they are a pinkish/white colour.

My problem is I can't find much information on them at all. I've read about green and gold severums but nothing on pink ones. Or did the aquarist make a mistake and mis-label them? Are they really gold severums do you think? Or do pink severums really exist LOL?

They are a mating pair and when the female is spawning parts of her body do turn an orangey colour.

I don't have any photos of them on my pc yet so I can't post a photo at present.

Help, I'm confused!

did you try googling it and maybe sope pix that look like your fish might come up?

Sevrum care is the same for all "types" of sevrums, (Greens, Golds, Pink etc) but more than likely Pink is actually your normal golden sevrum

Hi - thanks for both replies. Yes, I tried Googling and didn't find anything for pink severum. I've seen some pics for golden severum and they look quite yellowish - mine aren't yellow, though. Do you get golden severums that look pinky white in colour? Almost like an angel fish colour.

Oh well - whatever type of severums they are - they are beautiful fish and I absolutely love them!

Probably just a variation of the Gold, as has been said. Sort of like Golden Retrievers, who can be any colour from near-white to red.

You're going to need a much larger tank for them - at least 75 - 100 gallons.

you can get pink severums.. i have a green one and i had to chose between a green or pink at my lfs... but there is deffintly a pink kind

Google might be an ideal place to start. A quick search for "green severum" (with the quotation marks) yielded over 10,000 results when I tried a moment ago.

Was there something specific you wanted to know?

How big is it? If it's still small it may not have it's adult coloring.

I know this is a bit late but i went to my lfs a while back and found a pink type of severum, they had a diffrent name but they were pink and suposedly rare!
