I have a similar question to KonaBoy's. How do i know when to use fish meds and what kind to use? Sometimes I here people say that meds are a bad idea, but other times I here people say that meds are a good idea.

I only use meds if the fish are seriously sick. You would be surprised how much can be cured with clean, warm water

It's really a judgement call. Meds are harsh on fish and fish can develop immunity to antibiotics with too much use so they're not really good for fish, but they are needed when a fish is sick.

Things like Rid-Fungus, Fish Protector, Vita-Chem, Garlic Guard help since you can sometimes treat fish with these non-harsh products and the last 3 can be used regularly to help prevent disease.
