Need Advice
Ok I was given a 10 gallon tank with the fish today, I am at work and will be setting it up when I get home, the question is the fish are in gallon ziplock bags in a cooler, will they last another 4 or 5 hours like that? Should I open the bags and let them breathe some? TIA

Zebra danios, likely. They should survive.
However, because everything's been cleaned, your tank won't be cycled.
This article http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm
tells you about the aquarium nitrogen cycle and how to get through it with fish (lots and lots of partial water changes). Zebra danios should survive the cycle, as long as you keep up on the water changes.

probably danios..and now that everythings clean, you have to start the nitrogen cycle over again and you are going to have to do it with fish...because you have them already ..im not a danios expert and maybe someone will jump in, but im sure they will be ok as they are shipped in similiar ways..do you know about the nitrogen cycle? if not you can read it here... http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm
then heres a profile on the fish I THINK you have LOL ... Zebra Danio Photos

He actually gave me six gallons of water that (sorry he had ready to put in the tank for cleaning, he premixed his water and had it ready for cleanings the day before) , will this be ok to use, then I should only have to add 4 more gallons. He also gave me all the testing strips and Ph and Nitrate stuff that he had! I have been doing alot of reading on here to day as well. Plus my FIL is coming over tonight to help me get things just right he use to have several tanks!
Thanks again for all the advice!

the water wont help as most bacteria you need are on the filter and decorations..id start with fresh water and treat it with prime or some other chlorine remover...then do as sir said with daily changes and read the nitrogen cycle and you should be golden..the test strips as most have found arent reliable..and alot of us use the api master liquid test kit as it has EVERYTHING you need on it...your welcome and goodluck again

So I got my tank set up and so far the fish are doing great! The water seems to be fine right now. I tested it and it seems ok I will keep an eye on everything this weekend and keep it tested to adjust my ph and nitrates! So far so good, thanks for all the info!

Im glad the fishies are doing well..dont worry about ph, as most fish acclimate to different ph's ...its the ammonia and nitrites you gotta keep an eye out for...get some pics if you can, we love pics !

I wouldnt suggest messing around with the pH. Its to stressful for fish.

Welcome to Fishlore.
I'd get some Prime and an API master freshwater test kit. Each day, test the water, then do a 25-40% water change, treating the water with Prime. This will help protect your fish while the tank cycles.
