Looking for pretty fish :-)

I currently have a pretty empty 10 g tank.... I have two otos in it and 3 1" size molly fry who are going to a new home. I am keeping the otos.

I'm trying to think of a change for some new fish!! I've had lots and lots of mollies. I'd really like something with pretty veil-y tails. (I just ate a chinese food restaurant and fell in love with their goldfish tank... but I have a freshwater. Any suggestions??)

Perhaps a male betta? It really does depend on the betta itself, but he should be okay with the otos and a 10g is perfect for a little boy. The colors and fine varity should be enough to satisfy your "pretty veil-y tails" need ^_~

I thought of that.

Anything other than a betta?

i would suggest long fin rosy barbs but i think they need to be in a school of about 6 otherwise they are very pretty.

i would go with the betta. they are very pretty and would be perfect for a 10 gal. you can't really put much in a ten gal except for maybe a school of small fish like neon tetras.

good luck!

lol okay, I respectfully disagree about that... There are PLENTY of options for a 10 gallon tank..

I appreciate the betta suggestions but I'm not getting one so if anyone has another suggestion that would be wonderful.

You could divide the tank and get 2 bettas. I am prejudiced as far as bettas go. But if you really want to get something else, this article might give you some ideas. They gives some different fish selections for a small tank.

There are plenty of options for a 10g when you're aware of the limits, some you just need to be creative with.

There are some rainbowfish that I just recently heard about - they only get about an inch in length and are really something. Believe it was Pseudomugil gertrudae? The only problem might be finding them.

There are long fin zebra danios - I love zebras and would love to get some of the long fin varity but I'm just worried they'll bring out the inner-nippers in my fish.

While not as flowing - perhaps a dwarf gourami or paradise fish? I believe otos are still suitable tankmates for either.

For a larger tank I might suggest looking into congo tetras - I've always liked how they looked personally.

How about some Endlers? You could put 10 males in a tank that size. They're busy, colorful little fish.
