My Airhead Move Of The Month
Yesterday, when I was out of town and had to get some fish food on the way home, I visited a pet shop that id never been in...I ended up with no fish food, but two betta's who looked just about dead...in a vase with bamboo of some kind...thank god they survived the nite, and seem to be doin better..(totally off topic)
but....the owner did give me a full bag of brine shrimp...(EITHER feeling guilty about the betta's or just trying to thank me for taking them? ) so here I thought, well maybe I can raise them myself because I do spend so much on them for my fish...hmmmmph! not knowing they are raised in saltwater, LOL like my duhness kicked in again, I now have a full bag of baby brine shrimp and have not a clue what to do with them? cant just poor them in the tanks, as they are in salt water...and they are so small, how would I net them ? and if I figure a way to do this, can they just be fed to my fish as is?
I somehow have to make a commitement to myself to not have to visit every pet store in every town Im in!!!!!!!!

Hi Shawnie... I did the same thing lol.. dont feel so bad!
When I was given a bag of live baby brine shrimp for my Discus I thought I would be able to keep them alive in my breeder net in the tank, which has very tiny holes and I wouldnt loose any. Well... duh... they cant go into the freshwater tank! So I left them in the bag and they lasted maybe two days, three at the most. In the meantime I just used the medicine dropper and suctioned some out of the bag and feed my fish what I could before I lost them all.

Your LFS will just feed them to their fish.. maybe. You wont do anything wrong, you can scoop some out, put it in a bowl of tank water, and from there use the dropper. You shouldnt get any or only a teeny bit of salt water into the tank when you feed them. I had no problems with my fish when I did that.
Yeh.. my husband calls me a 'hermit' brain lol... I have dumb "brunette" moves as well hahah...
ps. You can find the dropper in the baby section at your grocery store. They are like .99 cents or 1.99

I used to buy/hatch them for our angel fry. What you do is pour/dip them and pour into a coffee filter(hold over sink) then pour a cup of tank water over them to rinse them(Continue to hold over sink ). Then rinse the coffee filter in the tank you want to feed.
Voila' they will love the shrimp.

No your fine, if you drained them there wasn't enough salt to worry about. The reason I was rinsing was because they were tiny fry in a much smaller tank. I thought you were asking how to rinse them. I guess I had a senior moment LOL

Are they still kicking? I think you can raise them in a mix of marine salt and treated tap water if so. I'd google it.
