Does boiling driftwood make it sink more quickly?

Hello

I just got a piece of driftwood from the store. I scrubbed it with a toothbrush to remove loose pieces and put it in a bucket of water to saturate it and make it sink(for a week or two I think), also to remove the tannins. But I read that boiling driftwood will speed up the process. Does this mean that it will make the driftwood become waterlogged quicker?

Thanks in advance!

When we got a piece of mopani driftwood a couple weeks ago, I boiled it for about 15 minutes or so and let the wood sit in the water until it cooled. It sunk to the bottom of the tank.
