Thread Moved to Livebearers

Hey! I see my thread was moved to the Livebearers section.

Does this mean I'm not a Freshwater Beginner any more ?

It was just more suited for the Livebearer forum then the Beginners forum.

You did graduate- you now have two stars under your name and as you post more you will have more stars.
As for the forum titles, we try to keep thread subjects together so it's easier to find things. Thats why Tom moved your thread to livebearers.

Your right, If you want a quick answer you HAVE to post in the beginners. or the betta section. I think that there are too few of the "specialized' aquarists to answer all of their own questions.

The reason it's broken down to all the sub-boards is for folks to find answers to their questions easier. In an ideal world we'd look to see if a question has already been answered before posting and categorizing the posts hopefully makes that easier.

I disagree. Posting non-beginner questions in the "beginner" section merely mucks things up and makes it more difficult to find specific beginner information. Most people who are going through for the purpose of responding to posts don't go in through the sub-sections. They check the "New Posts" button on the top of every page of the forum and scroll down. I often post questions in pretty obscure areas of the forum and get responses. However, if a post is made in the wrong place, you could very well miss the few "specialists" in a given area if they aren't checking the "New Posts".
To get an idea of why so many sub-forums are necessary, spend 24 hours away from the forum, then click the "New Posts" button and count all of the new posts that were made over the past day. We have dozens of new threads started every day, and if they weren't sorted in some manner, scanning them would become difficult.

Unsure of which post Morph is referring to. The one in the Puffer section is a lively, active thread, and there are several very recent discussions in that section.

Anyway, this isn't a matter of punishment or control, it's a matter of keeping the forum tidy. A question regarding the specifics of feeding koi doesn't belong in the beginner section. It's not a beginner question. On the other hand, a question of "how often should you feed your fish" would be an excellent question for the beginner section.

Thanks to the moderators for their quick replies to my problems/questions - I've posted in different areas and always get a quick response. As time has gone by I've also seen that the moderators have responded to similar issues over and over and over again. That takes a lot of patience on their part

Thanks for the kind words, we (the mods) really do appreciate it. We also have many knowledgeable people on our site who answer many, many posts so hats off to them also.
